Student Success Advisors are assigned to each student before the start of their academic term. SSA's are available to answer questions, provide advice on academic planning, and help students navigate the various resources and services available to you at Divergence. They also serve as a point of contact for students and Alumni who may be experiencing academic or personal challenges, and can provide referrals to additional support services as needed.
Student Success Advisors help students identify career goals, build resumes and cover letters, prepare for interviews, and connect with potential employers. They offer guidance on developing job skills like communication and teamwork, giving students an edge in the job market and increasing their chances of securing employment after graduation.
After over 20 years in the Army, Jason enrolled in Divergence Academy’s Cybersecurity Professional Penetration Tester program. Just one month later, he became our Director of Student Success. In this role, Jason enables success through a proactive, multi-tiered approach—assisting students and alumni with their current and future academic, personal, and professional goals through the development of knowledge and self-reliance.
Kingsley spent 21 yrs in the U.S. Air Force and is now a retired veteran, Wounded Warrior, and Bronze Star medal recipient. While in service, his career field was in law enforcement/criminal investigations. He also had the opportunity for special duty as a Career Assistance Advisor. As an alumnus of both the Cybersecurity Penetration Tester and Data Science Immersive programs, he now serves as a Student Success Advisor. As an SSA, Kingsley counsels learners and alumni on career progression and planning upon course completion. SSAs are critical in connecting the Divergence learning development ecosystem across the many facets to support tiered competency-based progression in the demanding technology infrastructure.
After over 20 years in the Army and completing his Bachelor’s degree in Arts & Science and Psychology from Dallas Baptist University, Sammie joined Divergence Team as a Student Success Advisor. In this role, Sammie enables success through a proactive, multi-tiered approach—assisting students and alumni with their current and future academic, personal, and professional goals through the development of knowledge and self-reliance.
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Michael served as an active member of the US Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009. His professional journey is marked by a diverse range of experience and education. After the military, he pursued his passion for culinary arts and underwent formal training at Le Cordon Bleu and the Disney Culinary Program. He also completed fellowships in both Entrepreneurship and Hospitality. Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, he established a mobile vending company in 2012, which gained distinction as the first food vendor to collaborate with the North Texas VA Medical system. Michael has proven his ability to adapt to any challenge and industry, graduating from Divergence's CPPT program and working as a Cloud Security Analyst Consultant.
